“Listening to the songs on "Soda Pop" was like finding out your girlfriend has a twin. Hard to pick a favorite. Who knew New Britain, CT had a hidden gem?”
— Casey Twist - Touring bassist for Gavin Degraw, Matchbox Twenty, Jack Ingram
“Swan's songs are always evolving and deeply effective — and here's betting you detect pleasant hints of REM, Eminem, Bright Eyes and Nick Drake.”
— Rick Koster - The Day, New London
Hi! My name is Kendall Swan. I’m a 25-year-old singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Nashville, Tennessee. I’ve been singing and playing the guitar since I was 10, picking up the bass guitar, piano, and drum set along the way. I’m a recent graduate of CCSU, where I studied English and Creative Writing in order to craft more thoughtful lyrics.
My music generally settles on an indie-rock sound, though it is laced with elements of hip-hop, folk, and pop. For influences, I listen to a lot of Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, Eminem, The Front Bottoms, The Beach Boys, and Joyce Manor. With these influences, I aim to make new music that is rhythmically, sonically, and lyrically expressive.
I just released my 4th album, “Soda Pop.” This record has been an explorative effort of delving into pop music. The songs mix lively melodies with lyrics that meditate on heavier subjects such as love, depression, and self-perception. While performing these songs, I strive to be lively, light hearted, and always accompanied by a good sense of humor. My live performances are carried out with the help of my loop pedal, through which I build each song on the spot, leading to a more engaging, interactive, and entertaining act. Although my focus in the past has been on school and recording albums, my current goal is to play as many live shows as possible.
